Return of Titan

Notes

Return of Titan is a dark full orchestra. It opens in near silence, with a low organ, two tubas breathing against each other, and a single trombone calling into the void. The Farewell theme returns in Memory, rising through strings, harp and English horn. The Ascent climbs into the Breach, where the full brass hits fortissimo over timpani and a 32-foot organ pedal, and the Coronation brings the melody home in C major. It ends quietly, in Tears in Rain: clarinets, a solo cello, and one low C fading into stillness.
